Getting started on inner work
Shadow work and mindfulness tips and tricks for getting started on your healing journey.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Jess. I have dedicated my time and energy to educating people on shadow work and the basics of starting a mindfulness practice of their own. These can be challenging things to begin and I have a few tips for how to get started,
Shadow work can work for you.
You don't have to journal or do workbooks at all if that is not something that will help you access your inner being for healing. One of the most beautiful parts of shadow work is how adaptive the process can be to what you need.
Shadow work prompts
There are many shadow work writers who will post prompts for free on their socials, myself included. A good prompt to start off with if you are ready right now to dive in is:
Why do I want to start this work?
What are my expectations of this work?

Mindfulness - the basics
Re-focusing your mind back to your breath over and over again is how you can build the foundations for mindfulness practice.
There are a few techniques that I have found to be extremely helpful.
Counting to ten: let the first inhale be one. The exhale is two. Inhale is three. Exhale is four. until you get to ten and then restart. you can do this for as long as you want to for your entire mediation.
Holding for 3 counts: For your inhale, let your inhale happen in a three count. for your exhale, let your exhale out for the same amount of time.
